    headlight probs?

In 1988, Chevy redesigned the headlight motors. Cant recall which, but Ecklers or MidAmerica had different part numbers for the gears. First time my 89 coupe motors went out, they did not have rebuild kits yet so I had to buy complete new ones from dealer;shrug. Just last year, they went out...

Is it true that GM has 2 versions of the 12 disk changer?

I've been researching myself - thinking about installing one in my convertible. Part numbers I've found on different web sites: Camaro (Made by Delco): 16199553 12371528 Most of the sites said the Non-Bose Camaro units wont work with the Vette Bose. Vette (Perhaps someone else out there can...

When I turn off the a/c the car heats up!

The summer here in Houston Texas, the climate is usually high 90's, low 100s (Heat Index yesterday got to 107!!!) City cruising around 30-35 mph for me use to run about 205-210. If I was stuck in traffic, my 2nd fan kicked in around 235 and drops the temp back to 205-210. If I was driving on...

When I turn off the a/c the car heats up!

If I recall, the stock thermostat is a 220 degree. The fan relay only turns on at 235 degrees. This is "Hot" compared to other cars that open at 180-190 degrees, but the C4 was designed this way.:hb If your sure there is no debris blocking airflow, switch out the thermostat to a 180, give it...

    C5 coupe vs C5 convertible

I have a 01 with the Selective Real Time Dampening (Dial in Suspension). Chasis is much much (did I say much?) more refined than my 89 Coupe. :J The ride is not harsh at all, even if I pick the Sport Mode. Noise level is fine unless there is a 18 wheeler beside me. :Steer I'm also very...

    Rear Speakers

c4c5specialist, So it sounds like then Relay #45 runs the signal amp. That is o.k. then since both bose door speakers work. :duh From your diagnostic then, I'm betting on the head unit and not the speaker itself since I did a ground test from the HU connector and heard static. I'm guessing...

    K&N Air Filters

I ordered my 89 Coupe brand new, wayyy back in Oct88. One of the 1st things I ordered from Ecklers was the K&N Filter. Never had a problem. Power change was noticeable. I also change oil religously and use Mobil 1 Synthetic. I now have 138k miles and still running strong. :Steer :Steer

    Rear Speakers

Won my 01 Convertible (Triple Black) on auction last month!!! The car is in fantastic shape but ... I've been having so much fun driving that I never noticed the rear speakers dont work (The door speakers work fine). If I understand other threads in this forum, the rear speakers are mid-range...

Wire harness Diagram for 89 Convertible

I presume your 89 still has the Bose cassette with 12 Pin setup (I just went thru this week the hard way. I just swapped out a Bose CD with my Bose Cassette.). Although my 89 is a coupe, you should have six plug connectors. The 1st 4 are for Delco radio hookup. The last two are uniques for...

Stock Mufflers and Y Pipe Replacement

Back in 97?, my vette would not pass state inspection (cat burned out, y pipe & mufflers were rusted) so I ordered from Mid America. Back then, borla or any other stainless were if I recalled, still $750+. Have'nt had any problem, but unless you have a way to get up underneath the car, go to a...

    Switching Bose Cassette to CD

The pink antenna wire is bundled (with the Ignition, Ground, and Lamp), so it must be the Bose relay like you said. Just can't figure out why it stays on now even with the ignition key out??? Also looked closer at the other black PED wire. It has a shield ground wire along side of it like a...

    Switching Bose Cassette to CD

Its not the antenna relay and ground (thoses are labeled). The ignition switch is also labeled yellow - I can turn the unit on (get LED lights, radio station is displayed) but no sound. Update: I just tried clipping the mysterious single pink wire labeled "PACK CON" onto spare hot plug on...

    Switching Bose Cassette to CD

Hope someone can help! I decided to switch out the Bose Cass. from my 89 Vette w/ a Bose CD that came from a Camaro. The Cass. has the old 12 Pin wiring harness and the CD has 21 Pin, so I bought GM harness converter Delco Part#16140051. I plugged the CD to the converter harness and then into...
