Gerry,
I hate to even suggest it...but your symptoms sound a lot like a very slow leak between a cylinder and the cooling system. I've had this happen before...where the "leak" doesn't happen until the engine reaches a certain temperature. A cracked head can do this. The crack opens up at...
Just back from Amarillo (Zach and I made a 3-day weekend of the trip).
Nancy was very upbeat and positive. Remarkable woman.
Nice to see Tom and Gerry again too! (cartoon cat 'n mouse characters? Hmmmm )
Listening to the coffee shop guy talk about Bud's "guidance" had to be the highlight of...
Kane,
There's a difference in fan clutches between "standard" and "heavy duty". Mechanical thermal clutch fans do not engage at 100% of engine speed...and that percentage (maybe temp too? I don't really remember) is different among types of clutches. I think Hayden has some info on this on...
Tom (and anyone else planning to attend one or both), keep in touch with what you want to do. I'm definitely wanting to do one of those, possibly both.
Bill
What he's done there is put the OBD1 ECM into diagnostics mode...one side result of that being it turns the cooling fan system on. It should be noted that the entire cooling fan SYSTEM must be operating properly to use this as a "fan test". For example if a relay is bad, or the ECM's relay...
I tried to post this about a week ago...got distracted or something.
Anyway, it's ALL about the music! He has poured his heart and soul into being the best guitarist he can...if he's not doing homework (or chasing women with me :L ), he's practicing. Gotta give the kid credit for the sheer...
This is tough...I'm glad I'm alone, this won't happen without shedding a tear or two.
The words "Rare" and "Yoda" could not be more appropriate...for Bud was as rare and wise as any individual ever put on this Earth.
I first met Bud at one of the Bowling Green Cruisefests (luckily not via the...
Sitting in the garage collecting dust...GREAT condition original '89 wheels with center caps. There's no chance I'll ever want to go back to those...no point in keeping 'em around.
They do have Pirelli tires on them, but the tires are not worth anything. Aside from age, the two from the rear...
There are no vacuum lines that have anything to do with the transmission shifting. Shift points are controlled by the TV (Throttle Valve) cable and governor. Based on your description, I would probably make sure whatever you ran over on the road didn't fly up and dent the governor cover or...
White smoke = coolant is getting into the cylinders. My '84 had this issue when I first got it. Turned out the heads had cracked and someone attempted to repair the cracks (unsuccessfully).
This all started driving home a few weeks ago...went to take off from a red light and the engine started "surging" and eventually died. Would not start back up. I had been wanting to address the exhaust system anyway, and in doing so found the main cat was full of pieces from a disintegrated...
Forgive the late race entry here. Between the work stress and the traveling and the...well just leave it at that.
Happy Birthday my friend and keep on kicking ass!
