    Should I swap gears?

    A 3.07 came in my 85 Z51. When I went to a 383 super ram, I changed my D36 to 3.54s. At 70 MPH the engine is turning 2300 RPM. The 3.54 is the ideal ratio for better acceleration and highway cruising.

    Thanks. I had reached the same conclusion because the higher the stall speed, the more slippage, and the more heat in the transmission.

    It may be possible that I broke something when I got down on it, but the transmission shows no signs of slippage. John, who has my car, said the transmission is fine. The compression is also fine with no problems.
