I have a 79 Corvette with a 350 tranny that has recently started to slam into reverse gear. Is there an easy fix for this, or am I looking at a new or rebuilt tranny in the future?? Any suggestions are appreciated.
Cheers
I just got a generator light and horn while driving home last night. I had the generator checked and the battery is also good. Autozone suggested that I check the fuseable link. Does anyone know where the fuseable link is on a 1979???
Thanks in advance!!

I have a 79 corvette that the signal arm came loose and is now hanging by the electrical wire. Can anyone help with where to purchase a replacement and also how difficult it is to change, The steering wheel is tilt and telescoping type.
I started by having a problem with the car all of a sudden starting to pull to the right. I changed both front calipers and pads, bled the system, and it still does the same thing...very little change.
Any ideas on where to go next??

I have alway jacked the rear of cars using the pumpkin of the rear end.
Recently I was told the on Corvettes not to do that because it may cause the cover of the rear end to crack. Is this really true??

I've been trying to find a short that drains the battery on my "79", but still getting no where.
I hooked up an AMP meter to the hot lead and the battery and get a reading of .085 regardless of which fuse I pull.
Does anyond have a system I can use to follow to get to the short??

I had a problem recently when I tried to hook up the gages for charging the A/C on my 79 Vette.
When I tried to get the adapter on the low side(block attached to the compressor), I could not get it to fit because the bolt that is used for adjusting the belt tension is in the way. Is there a...
Need some advice asap. A friend of mine said that he services air conditioners and he would be glad to do mine. He claims that he can mix the original R12 with the newer 130 and that it will work just fine. Does this sound like it will work??? More important, will it hurt my A/C system...
I'm going to remove the tranny on my 79, and change the pump seals...leaks pretty good right now.
Does anyone have an easy step by step procedure, as I have never done this before.
Also, how long should this take....not knowing what I'm doing?? I plan on putting the front wheels up on ramps...
I've been looking for the source of a transmission leak for months, and have just found it. When I removed the metal cover from around the converter/ flywheel,
hyd fluid starts to come down very slowly from inside. I'm told there are about 3 different seals that may be leaking. The question...
I've had leaky valve covers for some time, and have installed new gaskets..no help. Looking for a good place to buy cast covers without emptying my wallet.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Cheers, JohnnyJ
I'm having great difficulty finding a problem with my "79" Vette that keeps draining my battery, if car not started every day. I think the problem is in the radio or courtesy systems. I wanted to run a new wire from the radio to the fuse block, but dont know how to get to the back of the fuse...
After about 3 days of sitting the battery goes dead in my 79. I did a current flow check with a multimeter on the 10 amp scale and had a reading of 1. When I pulled the courtesy fuse the reading went to zero, however then the radio would not work. If I pull either fuse, the radio or courtesy...
The battery in my 79 drains dead after about 3 days if left in the garage. I did a current drain check with a multimeter set on 10 amps and got a reading of 1. When I pulled the courtesy fuse the reading goes to zero, however the radio also quits. Radio has its own fuse just above the...
Just installed a standard exhaust on my "79" from the "Y" pipe on back. Very difficult to get the pipes up high as they were originally. Has anyone seen hangers that mount over the top of the spring center plate, and drops down to attach to the 2 pipes?? The originals were tack welded...
I need to replace the weather stripping on my 79 "T" Tops. I know that I can get a set from mid america and other catalogs. However, I was wondering if there is other weather stripping that will do the job without the high cost. Anyone out there try anything other than the made to order...
Just recently changed the yokes in the rear end. Also removed the left traveling arm, and had new bearings installed. In addition, installed new adjustable wheel alignment rods for the rear wheels. I went through a set of new Dunlap tires in 10,000 miles, due poor alignment, and could not...
