CE LT4's
Hey John...Life is too short, Enjoy the car. I bought a 96 CE LT4 loaded with a bunch of options a year ago with 27K miles for $17k. Its my everyday car April thru Nov. One observation on yours, I thought '96 CE only came in Sebring Silver paint, and Black, Red, or Gray Interiors...
My 2 Vettes rest in a garage with a concrete floor also. I put down a plastic drop cloth where the cars sit, to slow down moisture from the concrete. So far the 72 has been over plastic for over 20 years, and I've had to deal with very little surface rust through the years.. As Hib has stated...
I replaced the stock pads on my 96 with hawk Ceramic's. After 500 miles, I've also noticed that there is less dust on the wheels, and its much less noticeable. Braking effort has increased slightly. I recommend them..
Before installing water pump, modify the water pump by drilling and tapping weep hole for a hose barb, then route rubber hose from hose barb down to below engine block. That way, if the water pump should blow a seal in the future, the resultant water will not hit the Opti..
PS search all the...
Well NJ's hot & humid summer weather has returned, and I notice a considerable amount of condensation on the exposed metal A/C piping in the '96 engine compartment. Would the blown air in the interior be any colder if I were to put some pipe insulation on the piping to slow down thermal energy...
Any suggestions as to a source for the plastic line supports / restraints for the fuel / return lines, & the 4 brake lines that go between the front and the ABS units? They have a hole in middle that fits over a stud just inside the unibody..Looked in the usual spots to no avail...
Thanks
Picked the vette up about 6 weeks ago, just got it up on a lift to snoop around, and I came away at least 1 silly question. What color was the stock LT-4 short block painted? Not a crisis, really, just "used" toseeing Chevy's Moly Orange & Blue..
I'm about to dive into fine tuning the carb on my mildly moded 72 454 with a LM-1 Wideband O2 AFM setup. A couple of local sages have opinioned that the Holley Squarebore 600 CFM carb might be too small for the engine. As we discussed it, they focused on how much the throttleplates would need...
On a relatively fresh bottom end, with 15w-40 Mobil1 in my 72 454, and the water temp about 190, at idle (800 rpm), my oil press is about 40 lbs/in*2, and at cruise (2700 rpm), it reads around 65 lbs / in*2.
YRMV.

I'm in the process of doing the reverse, removing a Torker II from my BB, and putting a dual plane mainfold on. Picked up a L-88 hood to fit in under. Haven't quite got there yet, as I also swapped out the cam, and now in the process of replacing valve springs and seals.
74BB, if you're...
Check out Edelbrock's web page catalog, I believe the only manifolds that will fit under stock hoods are the torker single plane vareity. My application is a BBC, so check out the web site for the SB.

When I bought my 72 LS-5 in '88, it had a Edelbrock Torker manifold, which is for upper range applications. When I asked Edelbrock about their Performer / Performer RPM manifolds, they told me they wouldn't fit under a stock BB hood.
I too am in the process in mod'ing my engine for some more...
