I have checked that I am not 180 out on the distributer. If let the engine warm up at idle and then go to WOT as fast as I can it will spit fire throught carb. I have tried two different intakes.
I thought it might be a lean condition so I put a road race carb on which should have plenty of...
I just rebuilt my engine and now when I give it real hard acceleration from idle it pops through the carb. Engine is a 350 with a mild cam, MSD 6al and Dist. I also freshened up the carb with the gaskets and spitter. I did not change jetting. I checked to make sure that I wasn't 180 out on the...
On my 72' the emergency brake bracket on the side of the trailing arm must be moved to to the top of the trailing arm to accomodate 275 tires. I don't know if the 79' has the bracket in the same location or not. If it does, you will more and likely have to move it.

Thanks everyone. It looks like the A/C is going to be the biggest hurdle.I had one guy tell me that I will have trouble with the Alternator. Did anyone else have trouble with the Alternator?

Michel73, in your case a flex fan would not help. Flex fans only help at very low speed conditions. My guess is that you probaly need to check the radiator for restrictions or maybe a collapsing radiator hose. Hope this helps.

I use synthetics in all my cars. The main reason is the thermal break down properties. Conventional oil will evaporate around 285 degrees. I have personally had the oil in my '85 up to 305 degrees without any engine damage. I have also not experienced new leaks either, although synthetics are...
Brian is right about higher octane is just a more stable fuel. running lower octane leads to detonation. the
detonation is caused by "dieseling" or better known as preignition. the higher temps in the combustion chamber set off the fuel...
One article that I have read said that for 72' ZR1's, some came with fan should while others did not. I believe the article was written by an NCRS fellow.
Another option that the original ZR1 did NOT have was a radio. There is a block off plate where the radio goes and there is no antena, not even a hole for the antena. The hole was filled in at the factory. I was in Reno ,NV for Hot August nights and I saw real 72' ZR1 in the action. I did not...
SLICKMAN,
If this a Top flight car then I would leave it alone. To install headers the exhast pipes must be cut and repositioned. Even if you put it back to the original position the weld marks will still show. Whenever you do engine work there is a chance that something else...
According the Vette Vues book, the yellow ZL1 has the correct stripping for a ZL1. This white one does not. But who's to say that vette Vues is correct.
I maybe wrong about this but I believe running a higher octane in a lower compression engine will not result in more power. The higher octane rating raises the flash point of the fuel. In high compression engines the act of compressing the molecules can produce enough heat to trigger the flash...
Does anyone know the conversion for the old tire format to the newone. What I mean is the stock tires are F70/15. Is that equivalent to 195,205 etc?
Ron
A while back I bought a new set of comp cams roller rockers for my '85 vette and used the supplied locking nuts. I had similar problems wherre the rockers kepted coming loose. I finally put the stock nuts back on and all my problems went away. I say change the nuts.
My engine is not a solid lifter motor. It was replaced at sometime with a hydrualic verson. My tire size is 25.25 inchs. I have no idea what the crank, rods, or pistions are made of. Because of this uncertainty, I was trying not to run the motor above 5500rpm. Then came the question, do I setup...
