I was contemplating putting new (loop) carpets in a 1958 corvette to replace the ones that were somewhat threadbare. Does this affect the value of the car ( the ones currently in look original) or wouldn’t it make much of a difference?

I have a 1958 corvette 4 speed and at times I have trouble(after I have backed the car out of the garage) with respect to getting the car into 1st gear. When it finally cooperates, it runs smoothly, but it seems very temperamental. Could this be associated with cold weather, the age of the car...
