yes the clacking sounds go up with the RPM's Dave said it was deep in the engine. I just wonder is it still possible to take road trips with it like maybe 600 miles or not ? or just roll the dice and see what happens. If it craps I still have my 85 vette to drive.
Almost 130k, he has worked on cars for decades and does all the work on both my 96 and my 85. I don't race the vettes or abuse them, just a daily drive depending on which one the mileage driven is less then 20 miles daily.
My 96 was taken in lately and when I got it back it developed a "clacking" noise wasn't loud but just annoying. Drove if for a few days and it just was bothering me. Took it back to the guys who always work on both my vettes and after a couple of days Dave called me back and said it was a...
Finally got the code fixed Bell Auto and Tire in Glendale,AZ. Sands Chevrolet says they didn't mess with the AC, funny Bell found out there was NO FREON at all in the system. The ECM Sands put in was never Flashed correctly, Bell fixed that and the OPTI-SPARK Sands put in wasn't even installed...
Well got the car finally back on Friday, running real good but still have the DAMN code. I have till November to get rid of it before emissions testing which will fail if I still have the code
ok so 2 weeks ago after the running on at least 4 or so cylinders they are now waiting on a fuel injector wiring harness. Asked how that could happen and he said "we fix one thing and then 20 other things go wrong". Man I will have practically a new 96 collectors edition by the etime they are...
Went to pick up the car ( with code still set ) and started it up and it was running rough as hell, drove it about 1/2 mile down the road and it sounded like it wasn't running on all cyclinders and at a stop sign noticed smoke and the smell of burnt oil. turned around and brought it back...
I have a post on the general info forum. The latest is the computer change didn't work, no stretched timing chain, changing distributor didn't work. Then they wanted to try to reprogram the computer to get rid of the code. I said not and just put it back to together and I would pick it up...
Called them this am and told them not to mess with the computer and put it back together and I will figure something out. But how to get rid of the code since when I have to do emissions next year it will immediately fail since there is an outstanding code.

I got a new acrylic top from CorvetteTops for $330. does not include the frame but they give a video of how to remove, clean up from the old top and replace it.

So after the timing chain wasn't the issue they are bring in someone to alter the software in the computer to get rid of the code, christ what a nightmare. Been without it for over 6 weeks, but enjoying driving the 85' manual as the daily car more.
Sands Chevrolet in Glendale, az I only went back to them after them practically begging me to come back so they could "Make it right" after the first screw ups. Don't think I will take it back to them for anything after this FUBAR
Here is the latest and from my post on General Discussion side of this forum
So when I went to pick up the car, there it is in the pick up spot running and the service engine lite is on. They took it back and basically cleared the code and brought it back. I drove it for about 10 miles and...
So when I went to pick up the car, there it is in the pick up spot running and the service engine lite is on. They took it back and basically cleared the code and brought it back. I drove it for about 10 miles and the lite came back on same code P0336. They actually checked it out this time...
Funny thing is that the code wasn't there before I took it to the shop, they replaced the Crankshaft sensor but that didn't clear the code and they still want me to pay for the sensor. Now they are saying its the computer and I still am fighting them about "why do I have to pay for the parts...
