    Oil question

I have a stock - 1960 283/245 engine with 82k miles. Been running Mobil synthetic oil in it, and was recently told I should be using a Hi Zinc oil in this older engine! Anyone have an opinion? Which oil would be best to use? I do not race this car, but will be going on a long trip in August...

Heater Core - control valve for 1960 Corvette

I finally had the opportunity to pull the heater core on my 1960 Vette and take it to get pressure tested and repaired. I was thinking it was the core that was leaking, but the pressure test revealed it was the heater control valve. Anyone know if the rubber gasket/diaphragm/washer or whatever...

    Question: Vehicle Recovery Systems

Hi All, posting this in General Automotive Discussion as I think it can pertain to any make/model of vehicles, but i am specifically looking to equip my 1960 Corvette with "something". Years ago I had two vehicles stolen - never to be recovered: a 1966 GTO and 1968 Chevelle. This was more than...

    OK - really strange question!

I have an original 1960 Corvette. I signed up for the 2014 Corvette Caravan next August. My wife is dreading it because she HATES the heat, and well, the car has no air conditioning. Wondering if any of you have seen a mini-car air conditioning unit that can be plugged into the lighter to...

Meeting "THE MAN" at the National Corvette Museum

Had the chance to meet "THE MAN" from the National Corvette Museum - Mr. Adam Boca! What a great time my wife and I had visiting the museum with Adam. Thanks again Adam - remember I owe you a beer next time you are up in the Cleveland area!

    All about 60

How cool is this? My uncle gave me his 1960 Corvette, on my 60th birthday, in the year of the 60th Anniversary of Corvettes and my wife bought me a 60th key ring from the National Corvette Museum (lower right of pic) . IT'S ALL ABOUT 60! :beer

    Reverse Issue

Thanks Mike - will check those out - got me puzzled - LOL! :thumb

    Reverse Issue

Well not really - I was in our cul-de-sac on level ground backing up towards my drive. Seems when I fully released the clutch while in reverse was when it happened, so I dont believe it was an uphill issue. Seems more like a full clutch release more so than a hill issue. As long as I "ride...

    Reverse Issue

Well, finally got some time and descent weather to take the 1960 Vette for a spin. She ran like a champ and boy did I get the looks (well the car did - not me - LOL) Anyways, to make a long story short, due to the garage setup and no power steering I found that if I back up the driveway, I can...

Question: Best way to insure 1960 Corvette

WOW - there are certainly a wide variety of opinions! That's good - I am glad I asked. Well, I talked to my State Farm agent, Hagerty and Adam @ NCM - and I decided to go with Adam. While State Farms quote was quite lower, I just heard too many horror stories (even a personal email from...

Question: Best way to insure 1960 Corvette

Thanks again - so what I need to do is be sure it is AGREED VALUE - not STATED VALUE - thanks for the advice!

Question: Best way to insure 1960 Corvette

Thanks vetter! I did call my insurance carrier just to see what they said. They require a professional appraisal of the vehicle, then will insure for that value - I assume that is an Agreed Value?

Question: Best way to insure 1960 Corvette

Well, as I posted in another thread, I am now the PROUD owner of a 1960 Corvette. I am curious as to how most of you insure your vehicle. I looked on Hagerty Classic Car guide, and believe my Corvette would be classified as Vehicle Condition #4 Vehicle Condition #4 cars are daily drivers...

Question: Probably kind of weird - sorry

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions! Actually we transferred the title yesterday (5/9/13) with no problems. My tax guy suggested I type up a short document that basically verifies this is a gift and no compensation of any kind was or will be received from me. My sister is a...

Question: Probably kind of weird - sorry

LOL, well not his daily drive in recent years - back when he was working. This past year he never took it out once - too hard for him to drive now with the clutch and no power steering. I believe he just turned 80k original miles on it. Thus his desire for me to have it now rather than - well...
