I have a stock - 1960 283/245 engine with 82k miles. Been running Mobil synthetic oil in it, and was recently told I should be using a Hi Zinc oil in this older engine!
Anyone have an opinion? Which oil would be best to use? I do not race this car, but will be going on a long trip in August...
I finally had the opportunity to pull the heater core on my 1960 Vette and take it to get pressure tested and repaired. I was thinking it was the core that was leaking, but the pressure test revealed it was the heater control valve. Anyone know if the rubber gasket/diaphragm/washer or whatever...
Hi All, posting this in General Automotive Discussion as I think it can pertain to any make/model of vehicles, but i am specifically looking to equip my 1960 Corvette with "something".
Years ago I had two vehicles stolen - never to be recovered: a 1966 GTO and 1968 Chevelle. This was more than...
I have an original 1960 Corvette. I signed up for the 2014 Corvette Caravan next August. My wife is dreading it because she HATES the heat, and well, the car has no air conditioning.
Wondering if any of you have seen a mini-car air conditioning unit that can be plugged into the lighter to...
Had the chance to meet "THE MAN" from the National Corvette Museum - Mr. Adam Boca! What a great time my wife and I had visiting the museum with Adam.
Thanks again Adam - remember I owe you a beer next time you are up in the Cleveland area!
How cool is this? My uncle gave me his 1960 Corvette, on my 60th birthday, in the year of the 60th Anniversary of Corvettes and my wife bought me a 60th key ring from the National Corvette Museum (lower right of pic) .
IT'S ALL ABOUT 60! :beer
Well, finally got some time and descent weather to take the 1960 Vette for a spin. She ran like a champ and boy did I get the looks (well the car did - not me - LOL)
Anyways, to make a long story short, due to the garage setup and no power steering I found that if I back up the driveway, I can...
Well, as I posted in another thread, I am now the PROUD owner of a 1960 Corvette. I am curious as to how most of you insure your vehicle. I looked on Hagerty Classic Car guide, and believe my Corvette would be classified as Vehicle Condition #4
Vehicle Condition #4 cars are daily drivers...
This is probably a weird question - did a search on the forums and did not find anything.
I have an 89 year old uncle who has a 1960 Corvette. He has never been married, and other than us nieces and nephews has no other family. I am the executor of his estate, and in his will he has the I get...
Well, looking for a steering wheel cover locally and all I seem to find is 15 1/2 inch covers. My steering wheel is 17 inches.
I started looking online and it appears all I see referenced for a 1960 is 15 inch steering wheels. What gives? :upthumbs
What is the standard size for a 1960. I...
Hi All,
My Uncle has a 1960 Corvette. It is in need of new tires. Finding the original size tires seems to be very difficult (and when I find them - very expensive!).
I know he has stated that one size (cant remember what they were) actually rubbed on the inner front wheel well when he...
Hi everyone! I will try to describe the problem as best I can and will welcome any thought/comments any of you may have!
I am talking about a 1960 Corvette, 283 - 4 speed. Basically entirely stock. Recently had the frame replaced and engine rebuilt. The car starts/runs great (engine wise)...
Having problems with vapor lock on a 1960 Corvette. The fuel line is so close to the exhaust manifold, that when car is driven for a lengthy drive, the fuel actually bubbles and causes vapor lock when the car is started within a few minutes after stopping.
I have put several layers of tubing...
I am helping my Uncle get his 1960 Corvette restored. We purchased a 1959 rolling frame recently and are well into the frame-off. In one of his owner manuals, he read where there was some changes made from the 1959 to the 1960 front-end. I believe the changes were for better suspension and...
