    Tires

I liked Goodyear GS-D3's when they were available, but they never are any more. I switched to Contitech Extreme Contact DW and I like them okay. Smoother than the D3's and good test results. But I have not pushed them hard like I did the D3's. Tirerack should have your size. Don't mix brands...

Important! Its official. 2015 Z06 will have 650 HP and 650 lb-ft torque!!!

A pulley change may be all that is needed to swamp the few cars ahead of it in horsepower. And yes, the car is begging for all wheel drive. That power graph looks jacked up though, with the 2 different scales for torque and horsepower. Confusing at first.

Question: Are there any new 275 40 17 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 Tires on the Planet?

MCC, I had a similar problem a few years ago. My D3's were okay on the front, but the rears were worn out, and I couldn't get new D3 for the rear for months. I tried some Kumho's on the back and it didn't work. The mismatched tires handled badly. I was finally able to get 2 D3's for the rear and...

Very rough idle after hot start

My 96 LT1 runs fine except after a hot start. It starts immediately when the engine is cold, but after running for a while (20-30 minutes) and getting thoroughly warmed up, then sitting for about 30 minutes, it is slow to start and barely will idle. Can't even run the AC or it will die...

WTB: Passenger side cat for 1996

Bump. Anybody got one? I tried getting a Magnaflow cat, but it turns out that theirs doesn't have a rear O2 bung, so it's not gonna work on a '96, with OBD II. So, the only cat I can use is from GM.

I hate the color Polo Green

I've always thought it looks just like BRG. Green was very popular in the 90's. I would not be surprised to see a comeback with all the emphasis on the environment right now. BTW, I like Polo Green okay, but I don't buy based on color. If I did, I'd pick Ruby Red.

WTB: Passenger side cat for 1996

I've got code P0430. Time for a good used cat for bank 2.

Replacing spark plug wires on LT1

I am going to use the factory Delco LT4 wires, so they will fit the brackets. I actually replaced the driver's side spark plugs this afternoon. I started by unbolting the ASR (3 bolts) and swinging it out of the way. Access to the plugs was pretty good then; I've done a lot worse. I didn't...

Replacing spark plug wires on LT1

I do want to reuse the factory wire brackets, so I've got a set of red Delco LT4 wires ready to go. I can't see the distributer from below, or from the driver's side at all. Of course the front accessories are different on a Vette versus Camaro. I don't see how to get under the PS/alt/AC even...

Replacing spark plug wires on LT1

At 120,000 miles I'm considering replacing the spark plug wires. It looks like a nightmare though, especially on the driver's side. Those of you who did it, what was your experience? Thanks, Ken

    Friggin' front spoiler

Yep, just let it get scraped up. There's no way to avoid it. Mine has scraped my driveway every time I back out for 7 years. No harm.

    Front suspension noise

Thanks for the advise. I'll put a wrench on everything I see next time I get a chance.

    Front suspension noise

My Corvette has started making a noise that I can best describe as a slapping noise when driven over uneven ground, such as a rough parking lot. It is coming from the front of the car, and I don't notice it at higher speeds. I lifted the car up and was able to reproduce the sound (I think) by...

    Question: Wheel Alignment

I've used -0.5° camber on front and -0.8° camber on rear for over 3 years and I get even tire wear. Front toe in is 1/16" but I forget what the rear is.

WTB: ZR1 Windshield (large cutout preferred)

Sorry I can't help you with the windshield, but you got my curiosity up. I didn't realize there were differences in the C4 windshields. What cutout are you referring too? Thanks, Ken

Out playing with a BMR on da interstate yesterday evening...

Just curious, Dwayne. Did your check engine light come on? If anything would have set the "exceeds mechanical limits" code, it would have been this misadventure. Also, what are you going to do with the LS1? Ken

    Exhaust wall thickness

Anybody know how thick the tubing is on the exhaust system of an LT1? Thanks, Ken
