So who has has the molds now? And are there more than one that there will be a "MINE IS BETTER THAN YOURS" argument in the near future. Damn we all get so bored with the NCRS that we need fodder for the fight.

The final value fee for cars is not a percentage of the final price. THe listing fee is $40 or $45 and so is the final value fee. So over all it is really cheap.

Someone could buy this one and use the body to rebody the car.

Don't waste your $$$$ on the wrench. It is not worth it. I personally install all my wheels (I had a tire shop ding a fin one time). I check my wheels everytime i head out for a long trip or after a few 1000 miles have been put on the car.

Are your wheels repo or original? If repo, check and see if they have the safety pins installed.
I bought a lead hammer at Harbor Freight Tools and it works great. I check my wheels often and usually give them a wack before I head out on a long drive. Never can be too safe.
By the way a...
I know a guy in San Diego that buys them and rebuilds them. They demand big $$$. I not only have the distributor machine in the family, but the whole Sun Scope. It is pretty cool.

Thanks, but I luckly have a SUN machine in the family. Have used many times in the past, It is a great old tool that would be hard to replace. Just curious what someone gets to do the job.

Well.
I got the car back from the painter. Went in the total opposite direction than I first decided. The top is in getting recovered and I just spent dumped a bunch at Long Island Corvette, Paragon and Corvette Central. Here are some photos of it sitting outside my shop. oWEN

IH2LOSE,
I have followed your build and I have a question. You are a mechanical guy who just built a Rod from the ground up, Why would you send something as easy as a distributor out to be rebuilt. I am lucky and have an uncle who has a Sun distributor machine, but I am not certain if it...
Art Morrison has been building Corvette frames for a few years. I talked to him at the Portland Swapmeet and a friend of my Father's has a Morrison frame installed in his 1958 Corvette resto Mod. It is built to accept all C5 suspension and that really light Cadillac engine. It is pretty cool.

Is a complete Steering Column rebuild the way to go?
Since you will have the whole colum out of the car to do the lower bearing, I would go kkgive it a complete rebuild. Your upper bearing may be fine. The upper and lower bearings list the same and run about $35 USD. I notice from you photos...
I use #6 or #8 glass bead all the time or #10 for fine.
#4 (30/40) LARGE
#5 (40/50) LARGE
#6 (50/70) MEDIUM
#8 (70/100) MEDIUM
#10 (100/170) FINE
#12 (140/230) FINE
You should and see what your cabinte recommends. oWEN
Are you sure that it is a fuelie with air and auto??? I do not think that that combo was available from the factory.
If it has been sitting for 20 years, you can almost expect problems with the fuel injection.
