Also planning Corsa Pace and X. In your opinion is 'cutting' worth it to support this install? Live in the desert now but car will move to SO CA in a few years. Looking for the best performance gain in the $250-$400 range on the intake. Am being told this system allows cool air from the radiator shroud to enter the rammer more than others because of the design. Also unsure about water ingestion. For the foreseeable future only other change will be to exhaust. Thanks For Your Opinion.

HI there,
Being in So Cal, changes alot in the exhaust part of this.
Normally, water ingestion is not a big problem with the Vortex.
While power production is not the biggest, it is a nice unit, and installs easily.
As far as the rest, I would just stay with that.
The exhaust would be tough.
Just make sure you have a CARB Exemption number for any exhaust mods, to show that you still have emissions compliance for California.
Allthebest, c4c5:hb

c4c5; so far as intake and power production, what do you think would give the biggest bang for the $$ (under $500). Thanks, 1 more time.

Not to rock the boat..but I feel the need to remind you that the C5 intake manifold is plastic..(the water doesn't steam up like in metal intake manifolds and you can get hydrolock.)

With that..I am of the belief your best served by not going with a cut shroud type of air intake..

I don't make this suggestion lightly but rather to have you not be the one in a million who grenades his engine..

Want a bang for the buck..

just by a filter and stick it on the end of your maf for 50 bucks..

As far as the exhaust..its actually easier to just unbolt the stock exhaust..(drop the rear sway bar a bit..and bolt the new exhaust on the car..

Go to a local car show to hear the various corvette exhausts..

I'm sure the corvette owners would be more than happy to warm up their rides and rev the engine for you.

The corsa brand with x pipe is a great choice..

Want it loud..pick the indy's..

Want it more exotic and not quite as loud....go with the touring..

Remember as the C6 hits..more and more C5 owners will be parting out the various exhausts as they return their cars back to stock for trade in..

I remember trying to trade my 1999 with the corsa indy exhaust and the dealers told me ..RETURN THE CAR BACK TO STOCK..THE CAR WAS TOO LOUD.

SAME GOES FOR THE INTAKE.

Hope this helps..
