'04 Commemorative Edition

OK. First I'll admitt that I don't keep up on the new offerings very well. I saw a photo ad from an area Chevy dealer advertising a blue '04 Commemorative Edition. I was just curious as to exactly what they are commemorating (last C5?) and what is special on this car.

Yes, the last year of the C5.

Not much, carbon fiber hood with C5-R graphics for the Z06 with revalved shocks, in addition to the things below.

For the coupe and convertible, just the Le Mans Blue paint, Shale interior from the 50th anniversary, special badges, and polished wheels.

Here's one place to look, if you search the internet on the title of your post with the word corvette, you get about 1500 hits.

A friend of mine just got his 04 CE coupe. Really nice color combo!! The only thing I don't particularly care for is the paint, it looks rather "drab" unless it is in bright sunlight. Frankly, and this is just my personal opinion...the 50th AE was the same....drab ...unless it was in bright light. Still great cars though!

Commerative Edition

The local dealer here in AR has an 04 convertible and while getting my 2000 serviced yesterday, I took some time to look over the car. First the MSRP nearly put me into shock. I don't know how close to the the MSRP the car bring, but the price, in my opinion, is inflated for just special paint and badging. Also, the paint had "orange peel" that was very visible throughout the entire car. The salesman asked me if I would be interested in trading, and my answer was that "I would stick with my Sebring silver 2000." At least I have an acceptable paint job.

To answer the 2nd part of your question "what they are commemorating", they are indeed commemorating the end of the C5 & the C5R Racing Corvettes 24 Hours of Lemans victories all in one package.

I just picked up an Arctic White '04 Sunday and the Inventory Manager said they were having big problems getting the paint acceptable on the carbon fiber hood used on the CE. Looks good from far but far from good.........

i think they stopped shipping them for now and it is so close to 2005 these models may become extra rare
