How much is a 53 Vette worth?
Watching the Speed Channel, they auctioned an original 53 for $95,000. I was expecting the price to go higher. Is this too much or just right?

Can't answer question, but I'm watching it too and cars are going for some unreal prices. We're driving up to Scottsdale tomorrow to meet some friends who have been there buying cars since yesterday. It'll be fun to watch the biding live.

Hmmm

what a good idea, drive to Scottsdale, I'm in San Diego with no plans for this weekend

Thanks:_rock

I stuck this in the C1/C2 General Discussion forums where you're sure to get a more accurate response. :CAC

They're worth whatever someone is willing to pay for them; the car that sold last night was pretty much original and unrestored. Some folks prefer originality, and some prefer flawless total restoration - just depends which bidders are there at the time and what they're looking for.

The '65 L-79 convertible that went for $80K was a flawless restoration, and found the right buyer; the white '64 convertible that only brought $40K looked really nice on the outside, but had a fair amount of Jeg's/Summit stuff on it, which hurt its value. Absolutely correct and fully-documented cars bring the big bids, and modified stuff doesn't (generally speaking). The guy who sold the C3 with 1360hp and twin blowers sticking through the hood said he had $250K in the car, and took gas big time - not many folks interested in laying out big bucks for that kind of car. The stock '68 L-71 just ahead of him brought $30K more ($98K).

Just got back from B-J and have to tell some cars went for some unreal numbers, 57 & 67 Vettes for over $100K, the Oldsmobile F-88 Concept Car for over $3M. That was exciting as was the Callaway Speedster that went for just over $210K to the same guy who bought up all the Callaways last year (as well as this).
