Hi guys,

We're getting ready to set the the old girl back on her feet and all of the reference material we've got says the '54 had FOUR (4) leaves which all had grooves machined in them. Our car has five. Four with machined grooves and one (the one next to the main leaf) which is conventional with no groove.

What's up? I suspect that the original four leaf springs were found to be a little soft so an extra leaf was added after but I don't want to put it together with five leaves if the original four will do.

Any suggestions?

Thanks a lot,

Kip

You've got it, Kip. 4 leaves...all grooved. The springs are even dated on the bottom of the main leaf. Somebody added an extra leaf. You can have them re-arched.

Original "linoleum/paraffin/muslin" spring liners are available if you don't want to use the bogus "military belt" liners sold in the catalogs. Chuck
