I am helping my Uncle get his 1960 Corvette restored. We purchased a 1959 rolling frame recently and are well into the frame-off. In one of his owner manuals, he read where there was some changes made from the 1959 to the 1960 front-end. I believe the changes were for better suspension and additional strength. Does anyone know EXACTLY what changes were made and why? Is there any real disadvantage to having a '59 front-end? Please note, we will be using as much of the original pieces as possible to maintain the integrity of the car.

Any info will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Bob

As far as I know, there were no changes at all in the front suspension from '59 to '60; C1's used essentially the same front suspension from '53 to '62, except for some of the (rare) racing heavy-duty brake options.

Welcome to the CAC. The only difference in '59 and '60 chassis was the addition of the rear sway bar. The front suspension and steering was the same.

Thanks for the replies - that is what we suspected. However, as I stated originally, his manual stated there were some changes made - but no reference to what was actually changed.

Thanks again! GREAT SITE!!!!!!

The only change that I'm aware of is the front sway bar. The 59 is like the 53 thru 58 in that it is offset to the front of the car between the frame mounted bushing whereas the 60 thru 62 was straight across between the bushings.
