1961 corvette hood cables

The hood on my 61 had been open for a really long time while i did a ton of engine related fixes. I shut the hood & now the hood release seems to be frozen, as though the cables are corroded & stuck. Any ideas on how do I get the hood open?

Hood Release

You may be able to move the release lever that the release cable attaches to from under the car. It can be reached with a short piece of furring strip, broom handle etc. IF it is similar to my '64 , it is high on the drivers side firewall, oriented vertically downward, and must be pushed to the rear to release both sides. I have done this in the past with very little trouble. Hope this helps - - - it is a reminder to me to lube mine!
