The NCRS Judging guide plainly states the 1963 Emergency Brake Handle is Chrome with WHITE Block letters. I have looked at many examples of 63s, some claim to be totally original and I see many have the brake handles with BLACK Letters. Can somebody clear this up for me. I read Nolands book last night and it says nothing about the handle, yet it appears this is another 63 only part, as the 64 had brushed metal with black letters.....:confused

Collin,

just ran out to the garage to check on LADY - she has the parking brake handle just as described in the JG

Collin,

I just checked mine and it is chrome with white letters.

Collin,

Is your a late or early 63? I have been reading post on other boards about model changes and multiple part suppliers. It maybe a factory installed brake handle. I would post a survey on all the Corvette sites including the NCRS site prior to changing. I have a base 250HP 1965 that had the wrong intake manifold. The NCRS Judging Guide list a manifold that I have never seen with a 65 or 5 casting date, I have looked for over 3 years, but it does list an alternate manifold that I believe to be what the General installed on all most all base 65 cars.

Just a thought!

Mines a middle---meaning its birthday is 24 January 1963. In that respect it uses some early year parts and later year parts. So its a mixture. What I have done over the years is try to find people who have their build sequence numbers just before me and just after me. Then I see the parts they have, knowing mine is somewhere in the middle, you usually get a good feel for what was factory.

The parking brake I think should be chrome with white letters, that seems to be on most of the 1963 model years. I think LIC sells the correct piece, I will have to check today, otherwise I will be looking for one....its a new adventure every day owning a 63...

For all you people out there who are thinking on restoring a 63....you better have very very deep pockets, it seems just about every piece was specific to 63. But the reward is something sepecial in the end.

Collin,

check eBay - thought I saw one on there last night

Wrong year...64...thanks for looking out for me, I think LICS sells repro that is right on the money, going to check this out tomorrow...Collin
