1963 FI High Pressure pump replacement problem

I own a 1963 FI Coupe with the original Hp wobble pump. The car runs very strong, but I just don't trust the pump. Recently I picked up a 1963 Hp gear pump and rebuilt it, new shaft, seal shaft bushings and gasket. The gears were in excellent shape, with very little ware. My problem is when I replaced the wobble pump with the gear pump, and did nothing else to the car, the car would not accelerate. I had a very serious flat spot, and just bogged down under load. When I put the wobble pump back in, the car ran great. My question is why? Does anyone have the specifications on the gears so I can check mine? They don't appear to be worn, but I just don't know. I definately want to install the more reliable gear pump.

I have no idea of how to help you with your problem.But did want to say welcome so you did not hink we were SNOBS if no one can answer you here I am sure its because we just dont know.I have heard maney folks speak well of a fellow named jack podell for any thing replated to a fueley car. I really can't help you with the pump problem. I am a big fan of the Rochester units but have yet to own one. I'm hoping for a '65 unit with a black convertible wrapped around it.
