I still have a little cleaning to do but the 65 is finally back together. I just took it out for the first drive of the season and thought I would share a few pictures. It has been a long winter and I am ready for a road trip!

Looks great! No question what you're doing this weekend right? Been a long winter indeed so enjoy your cruising. Drive safe!:upthumbs

Very nice! I hope to show mine this weekend with new paint. I am itching to drive as well!

Looks great, Ray. You have quite a collection of beautiful Corvettes.

Thanks to all for the compliments!

IH2LOSE: I did put in a few long nights and weekends and it gets easier to reassemble the second time around. The weather here has not been favorable to cruising and the shop was warm.

Barry: How about an update and pictures on your 65 repaint. Looking forward to seeing it done.

Thom: I starting buying Corvettes over thirty-five years ago and I went a long time with out one (college for the kids and house for the wife), I am just trying to catch up on all the Corvette fun that I have missed.

Paul79: Just seen the pictures of your 67:Beautiful!!

I think we narrowed the problem down to two areas. The first possibility would be the PPG polly-fill high build primer. According to the person that painted the 65 he has had problems with this product in the past. He sprayed just the lacquer for me; he has a nice spray booth. I did all the polly-fill and primer. PPG stated that I should have used a catalyzed primer (DP-90) over the polly-fill even under lacquer.

The second possibility was the use of chemical strip. I did rinse the striped areas with soapy water and wiped down with lacquer thinner. I used the same procedure on the 61, except I used a brush and scrubbed the stripped area. I used the lacquer thinner first, then scrubbed with a brush and soapy water, rinsed and then went over the area with lacquer thinner for a second time.

No problems on the 61 at this time! (Knock on wood)

Hi Ray,
The 65 looks great. It looks like it's dying to go on a road trip with or without a driver! Good luck with her and enjoy.
