1965 rear suspension

Have a loud knock coming from the rear end when I go over a bump, sounds like something is broke. Nothing obvious under the car. Thought it might be the spare but it's secure. Not a muffler, I have side exhaust. Can the spring be worn?

The rear suspension on a C2/C3 is quite complex meaning there's a dozen spots which could go clunk. The spring is not one of them unless one or more leaves are broken but it's most likely that other signs would be present.

Have you looked at all the rubber bushings?

They all look in good shape. I'll keep digging into it. I've been told that the rear tires leave the ground, maybe just not enough travel.

That would imply that a pivot point or shock is seized.

get it up in the air and check everything......srtuts, shocks, tailing arms, half shafts, diff .....all of it !
