Guys
thanks for all the great info...I have decided to go with money...but I'm determined to put a deposit to hold the car while I put pix here and a description of my encounter with the owner and the car...this is sean by the way -- the guy looking to verify a 65...327/365 vert -- trying to buy a car for my brother's 40th b'day -- I was nervous about revealing too much info because as a guy who owns a 68 shelby kr vert 4speed .... i have been caught up in the hysteria over not having a car bought out from under me -- everyone on this forum appears very cool -- from 1965 to 1970 there were only about 14,000 shelbys made -- there are 15,000 verts in 65 alone -- and vette owners appear to have had stronger pride of ownership from the beginning leaving these cars in better condition than the fords i've dealt with -- in the ford world we deal with the same authenticity issues and the NOM cars and clones and the impact all of those factors have on the market -- even I bought a 67 mustang fastback off e-bay for 12k -- sight unseen and paid 1k to ship it from pennsylvania to ca -- what a disaster -- I'm now selling it through a consignment guy out here -- it's a rust bucket and I'm shaping up to take a 3k loss....anyway -- if any of you have the energy for it you can see the car I'm seeing by going to e-bay and searching completed items -- it's a 65 vert that ended 2 days ago -- it's nassau blue with a navy blue hartz top (ugly in my opinion) -- first order of business for me is to replace that top with an original white top and I also hate the torque thrust wheels -- I want original wheels and wheel covers no aftermarket ko's for me -- i realize now that most of you guys will already have seen this car -- it didn't hit it's reserve and ended at 39,100 -- if you have a second take a look and weigh in -- if not i will post my own pix on saturday -- wish me luck and thanks again guys -- sean

Good luck with the 65. Back in the late 60's my college roommate had a 68 GT500 KR coupe that he purchased new from Koons Ford (around the D.C. area). Dark green with black interior. Coincidentally I had a 67 Mustang GT coupe with the 390/4 speed combo. Boy did we have some fun tearing up the autocross circuit in Huntsville, Alabama back then. Wish I still had the 67 - sold it for 1,200 upon the arrival of my son in 1978 - looking back - still happy with my son.
