1972 LT1 Heads

I am looking for a set of LT1 heads dated between October of '71 and January of '72. The part number is 3973487. My car has a set of heads dated August '69 off of a 350 horse car. I would like to get the correct pieces on my car.

LT1 Heads

A guy named Ralph @ 617-566-5637 has a pair listed in the NCRS Driveline, says they have been sitting on a shelf for 30 yrs. $500.

I told him I wanted to buy them, he is hesitant to ship them to me because he is scared of damage while in transit. I will pay for shipping and am willing to purchase them. They would be just right for my car. I have his e-mail address from a prior call and will make contact again.

Were they a little out of your date range?, I thought they were 8/01 heads.

The heads are on the outside limits, 8-10-71 heads for an engine built on 2-1-72. I checked with our Texas Chapter NCRS judging chairman and asked him about the nearly six month lead time and he said that it would not cause a problem if the car were to be judged. I think that the car would be a Top Flight canidate with a bit of work and I would rather spend money on parts that are correct and well dated for the car. It's such a nice car, how the heck did it get heads on it from a '69 Corvette?

I checked with our Texas Chapter NCRS judging chairman and asked him about the nearly six month lead time and he said that it would not cause a problem if the car were to be judged.

Just so you know, head casting numbers and dates are not judged in NCRS Flight Judging.
