1973 Corvette door handles

I would like to give a big thanks to the design team in 1973! I am in the process of changing out the exterior door handles on my 73 coupe.What a nightmare.Can anyone tell me how to get the outer nut on to the door handle?I cant reach it,,and the latch mechanism is directly below it.Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thank you,Chip

I am having the same problem with my 69 vette. A lot of people have to do it and there are a few posts on here that kinda explain how to do it.
What we could all use is a detailed with pictures posting or web site that explains how to do it.
WOnder if I can talk Corvette fever Magazine to do one in on of thier issues.

Remove the three screws that retain the latch mechanism .

Job done!!

I finally finished the door handles.Believe it or not corvette fever does have a very well illustrated article showing each step.Some pics are hard to see but it really is a big help.For some reason the driver side was a bit tougher than the passenger,reguardless its done.

One side was easier than the other was because you are either right handed or left handed. I have big hands from many decades of construction and I was able to do it. Yes, you do have to remove the mechanism. Good job
