I have the chance to pick up a '73 Corvette for $0. It was my fathers but he passed away in '94 and it hasn't been driven very much since. It has been stored inside all but one winter, it's in Michigan. It is missing the carb, brother is a gearhead, but everything else is there. I was told it would take a lot of work to be right but I can't imagine what else it could need. If someone could let me know what else to check I would really appreciate it. Since it was my fathers car I would like to see it back on the road.

Thank you,
Barry;help

Go for it!

Hi Bubs and welcome to the forum. A 73 Vette for "Zero" dollars and your brother is a gearhead! Go for it! Scroll up to the top and click "Tech Center" there's a checklist of what to look for.
Make your father proud of you and put it back on the road, PG.

Hard to go wrong with a '73 :) A very unique one year only Vette. Check the link below for more info on the 73's.

Welcome to the :CAC Barry!!

I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your father and I think putting his prized Corvette back on the road would be a very fitting tribute. I'd have to agree that it's worth the undertaking!

Here are a few CAC links which may interest you and help you in your decision:

this is the Buyer Checklist ( click ) which Pete mentioned. Although you aren't buying the '73 per se, it's still a handy resource on things to be considered when looking at restoration.

Another great resource is the CAC Tech Center which includes the CAC Model Center, specifically the CAC 1973 Model Center.

The Corvette Action Center is an excellent resource and the forums provide members links to the knowledge and experiences of other enthusiasts as well.

Good luck with your project! Let us hear more from you as you progress and post photos when you're able.
