Help! 1974 rear defrost fan with rug installing?

Hi all, I'm installing new carpet in my 74 coupe. The Driver rear side behind wheel well has a defrost fan motor. I'm not sure how the wheel well carpet goes? Is it cut out to expose the fan motor with its hose going over the finished carpet? The rear deck carpet tabs would also cover it and block the intake. Car came with no previous carpet and can't find finished pictures with carpet and defrost motor. Any help is great. Thanks, John

Options section of the '74 assembly instruction manual (AIM) will probably help. If the carpet needs to be trimmed, AIM will show it.

I don't have the manual. I guess i would remove the fan motor, glue the carpet against the wall, then bolt back the fan over the carpet. I guess you see the fan motor and hose over the finished carpet.

FWIW: AIMs are worth their weight in gold. Very handy things to have around.
