1975 roadster color

I have been looking around for a C3 roadster, more than likely it will be either a 1973 or 1975. I thought I knew what the 1975 dark red color looked like. However, I saw another picture of a car that is a different red but supposedly original. Now I'm not sure.

Does anyone have a link to a web site or a reference to a book that would have the color samples for those years?

Are you looking for a red closer to the one of the C5 used in your avatar? If so, you don't want Dark Red, you want Mille Miglia Red. If I'm not mistaken, the 75 Dark Red is really more of a maroon color, much like the Marlboro Maroon of the late 60's/early 70's. As for a place to see what the colors looked like, the only place I've seen accurate depictions is in the old GM/Chevy dealer books with the paint chips. I have seen other print copies of mags and such with paint colors but never one that was accurate enough to do a paint match on.

I think my car is pretty close if not the right color (dark red, paint code 74), but it is slightly off in this picture. If you go to the 1975 Roadster Registry there are several pictures of 1975's of various colors including Dark red. In the gallery section on CAC there are some photos of the Mille Miglia Red.

I could not get the paint chip site to work, but maybe I'll try again later.

p.s. I saw a 1965 roadster for sale locally & almost though of selling my 75 to buy it, but just can't part with her yet!!

The reason I asked is because I saw an ad for a '75 where the seller wrote that the car color was dark red. Well it wasn't as dark as yours. It was somewhere between the Dark Red and the Mille Miglia Red. It confused this old brain of mine....so I had to ask to clear it up. Thanks

If you ever do plan on selling that '75 please post it on the forum. I would like to have a crack at it......
