I just got a '76 Stingray (buckskin is the name of the color I believe).. It has 72,000 miles and everything on the car is original. It's been sitting in a garage for the past 15+ years (wasn't even started during that time). Body looks beautiful, but there is some interior work that needs to be done (I know the interior is leather).. After putting a few bucks in it recently (rear bearings, brakes, fuel pump, etc.) it is running beautifully.. I'm not looking to sell it but since I'm new to the Corvette world, I was curious as to a ballpark value that I might be able to get for the car in it's current condition. I just want to have some sort of guide to help me determine how much $$$ to put into it.. Any thoughts would be appreciated..

Thanks

You can start by checking the Corvette Fever website and following the links there as to value. There is also a book out called Corvette Price Handbook by Antonick that is a good starting point. It's available at some bookstores and via the NCM store (www.corvettemuseum.com).

Here's some of the info in the book:
1st condition with L82 - 15,500
very nice driver - 12,700
basket case - 6600

Deduct some for automatic trans. Add some for air conditioning.

Buckskin is a "rare" color with less than 3000 in that color.

Unless you plan to sell the car in the next few years, don't worry about the money - just make yourself happy. If you're looking at selling it in a few years, then be very careful as you how much money you put into it. It's hard to make money on them.

I purchased a 1976 about 6 months, almost like the one you have. Mine is Mahogany, which is also a rare color, with a Buckskin interior. Everything works, its all orginal, except the tires has some cheap tires on it, does not have the leather interior and needs some minor interior work. I paid 7,500 dollars for it. I would think your car is in the 8 to 10 thousand dollar range.
