So I finally got my 1st C3 and took it down to get a safety(read government mandated tax grab!) I need to repace a motor mount and the parking brakes are seized as well it needs lower ball joints.
I am wondering about the following;;help
1. can the motor mount be replaced in the driveawy without lifting the engine out?
2. Where should I start looking to repair the parking brakes, will one of the SS hardware kits being sold fix the problem?
3. The ball joints will probably be left to the mechanic as I assume it will need an alignment afterwards.

Also I was told it needs a tach filter to make the take work, it is missing, but i am also assuming the tach will be fried and will need a re-build board. The clock doesn't work which I understand to be a regular issue, what is the least expensive fix? As well, and I promise this is it for now, does anybody know of anyone that sells a stock looking radio that has an input for an MP3 player.

I have put a little over 200miles on my 77 and I am absolutley blown away with how much I love driving her.:)

Have your mechanic change the motor mount at the same time as the ball joints. You could do it in your driveway but it's a pain.

If your parking brake is seized, it might be just the cable and not the mechanism inside the rear hubs. Find out which before you start buying parts.

The mechanic told me that the cbles move but it is actually the brakes. I know you can pull up on the handle and it just barely grabs on one side. I am tempted to let them do it, but i am concerned they are going to want to pull the motor or something. Thanks for the advise, looks like it is going to snow here tonight so it may be a spring project.

Unless you ave the correct tools and are mechanically inclined, the ball joints and parking brakes are best left to your mechanic. The motor mount is however something you can do in your garage or driveway with common hand tools and a floor jack, all that is needed is a little patience but is do-able.

That's a sweet looking 74! you can also buy a radio on ebay for under $200.00, but it doesn't look as good as yours. I'd have the mechanic do the emergency brakes aslo, if you don't do much mechanical work, its not an easy job!

Thank you. I enjoy the car very much.
