So, I sold the 1978 about a month ago and I am starting to put together a list of ideas for my next project. To be honest, I sold it because I wanted another project and the 78 was complete as far as I was concerned. I didn't have the heart to re-vamp the car because I liked it for what it was as a package.

Currently, I have only my 1997 and will for about three years. So I plan on using the time to get familiar with the LS1 and develop my project. I am really happy with the diagnostic capabilities of the LS1 versus my old L98 system.

So here is the direction- I want to put an LS1 in a 70-72 or an 80-82. Again, this will be a few years away. I just want to get my ducks in a row before I build it!!

When I did the TPI to the 78, I had about three boxes of books on TPI, wiring and schematics. It was great because when it came time to execute the only hang up to the project was the radiator hose - which was matched to one from the parts store! It was a really easy build the way I did it. They key was the research.

Here's the basic concept for the next vette-
Modular wiring harness ( I want to capitalize on the current capabilities of EFI systems)
LS1
700R4
Power windows
Power locks
Keyless entry
Electric motor headlights
H4 conversion
Totally stock appearance (minus 17" rally wheels)
Poly bushings
A/C is a must!!!
A navigation system
And if GM and cost allows.... OnStar integration

I would like to find one where the body was in beter shape than my 78 was when I bought it. My crossmember under the front end looked really beat up. I'd want something that didn't need the 8K in paint, interior, and weather stripping. But that will likely mean the car will be a matching numbers and low mileage. That begs the question "would I really want to cut up a car like that?"

I realize a lot of you guys have been doing this for longer than me- I have about 12 years of vette ownership under my belt. So I really appreciatethe wealth of knowlege and talent out there at the CAC!

Bossvette- how many vettes did you own before doing the TPI you have now?

Chris- how many C3s did you go through before building the 69?

Anyone else?

Thanks in advance guys!

i had tons of muscle cars before my vettes and about 6 vettes so far,i too will be going with an ls-1 possible next year,i sitll have mor ething si want to do now like c5 brakes and such. This was my first tpi install in my vette and so far am very happy with it.
