I have a 1979 Corvette that I am completely restoring. The car is a 4 speed, built 350 (with many many new performance parts), positraction, rebuilt and upgraded suspension, true duals with cut outs, new paint job, custom leather seats and dash and door panels, all new wiring, new brake and fuel lines, powder coated frame (and all other parts that could be powder coated), new tires, aluminum rims, new carpet, CD player, new front wind shield, and headers. However, we removed the whole air conditioning and heating units. I'm sure there is more. After we are done with this car it is pretty much going to be brand new. I was just wondering what you guys think this car will be worth. I want to know if it is going to be worth more than what I put in to it.

By removed a/c and heater, do you mean take them out completely? as far as what its going to be worth sad part is unless its restored to stock not much........ wich is truly sad. But look on the bright side!!! its way more fun to drive now!!!!

A restored car is rarely worth more than you put into it. That being said, if you can do the majority of the work you might be able to break just about even.

When buying, it is almost always easier to buy something already restored that to buy a fixer-upper.

certainly not the last word in pricing, but i think you'll find that nice original 79's go for anywhere from around 9k to 13k depending upon the market area. in south florida there seem to be plenty of them and really nice original cars are in the 10k range as an average.

just sold my 79...bought it new. L-48/auto. loaded... 34k, 1st top fight 79 ever NCRS. as beautifully original as they get w/documentation. felt great to get 14.5k. its whatever the buyer wants to pay. modifieds rarely bring more than perfect originals. oh, just remenber the general built more 79's than any other year - ever, about 53,000 units. there are still alot of these cars around. best of luck.
