1979 steering question

Hello,
A couple weeks ago, I bought a 79 vette L82. Whenever I go to turn, even the slightest bit, the steering creaks extremely loud. The power steering works fine, but I can't figure out where the sound is coming from. Any ideas?

steering column bearings if you hear it inside, outside tie rod end,idler arm, control valve?

I checked all of that except the steering column bearings. Where are those located. I can hear it inside and barely outside.
