1981 3 seater?

i just purchased a 1981 corvette which was brought over from california. It's i.d. tag on the driver's side door is in japanese, i figured it was first sent to japan for distribution, but somehow either left behind or brought back from there. Question is it has a rear third seat. i've never come across one. is it rare or is it something offered for the japan market?

I surely could have used a third seat in my vette when my daughter was car seat-aged...lol

That is interesting, and if it isn't an after market modification, then this would make that Vette rare indeed.

I'll defenately get a few pictures of it from various angles for you guys. I have a local "corvette only" shop which did work for me last week. The owner has been around vettes for 35 yrs now, i'll defenately ask him about it also. i'll keep you posted
