I should have learnt when I did my 75 carb a few years ago. Just taking pictures doesnt mean that bubba hasnt been in before and either removed things or put things back in the wrong place......

Looking for pics of the seals and retainers that go on the accelerator pump and the TPS.
Neither of mine were staked in place or even had seals on them so thats how I started to put mine back together when I read that these seals must be installed with the lip facing upwards and the retainers staked in 3 places.

I have a few black seals and a couple of green ones as well as a couple of flat washers in the kit. Is the washer the retainer?
The black seals are a loose fit over the accelerator pump shaft whereas the green ones are a tight fit and would cause a bind.

From what pics I have, the black seals are for the choke lever assembly? ( but I probably have enough to do both )
Is the purpose of the seal and retainer just to keep the TPS and pump in place within the carb body?
Anyone got any pics?

TIA.

I have no pic's. But a suggestion. If it were me I would buy a new rebuild kit and start from scratch. I did a few searches and no luck with diagrams or pic's. There is always the local carb shop??? Good luck.:pat

if your using a cheapo kit your wasteing your time anyway. espically in the accelerator assembly. the cheapo kits last until you put gas in then they become soft and malfunction. one of the seals you are talking about is not used in our cars. its for a different type of choke. I think its the black one. call cliff at cliffs high performance or check out a book called how to rebuild Rochester quadrajet carburetors. everything is in that book. pics and all. the book costs 24. 95 hope this will help it helped when I did mine.

Sorry, I am not at my home computer or I would have pictures. From memory, the two green seals are used, one for the accelerator pump and one for the Throttle Position sensor. there should be two thin silver washers that get staked to hold the seals in.

I seem to remember the black one going in the choke assembly as you mention. Sorry I cant be of more help

I have some pictures on my first and second rebuild! As far as I can see I'm not using any seals on the acc. pump nor the TPS. As the TPS is a "dry" sensor you don't need any seals around that. The problem you discribe is also why I don't use a seal around the acc. pump. The pump would stay in the below position and that isn't a good idea. Maybe I did use it on a later rebuild but don't remember. And as others discribe you can use the green seals for the acc. pump and the little washer to lock it in place. But as fuel is always under the pump and not above it will only "leak" one or two drops. If I compare that to a possible binding acc pump I'm not using a seal in that place.
Let me know if you want the pictures :)
And yes, buy yourself the Cliff Ruggles book that is the best way to get it right!

Greetings Peter

OK, but in my kit, the green seals would cause a bind so I guess it will be the black ones.

Thanks Peter, replied to your PM!
The way I see it, both the accelerator pump and the TPS would be held in place with the linkage so I guess its not critical to have the seals or retainers....

Best read the book again!

So I looked at the book by Ruggles and also the one by Roe.....

The only mention of the seal and retainers is in the exploded diagrams in the Roe book and they all say not all parts are used in all applications.....

Will give it a whirl without and see where I go from there.
