1982 Rear Hatchback Conversion Project

To All,

I want to convert my 81 rear window to a 1982 hatchback. Does anyone know where I can find the parts to complete this project?

You will need a donor CE or a source for NOS/used parts. The hatches were only available on the 82 CE cars, all of which are 25 years old now. My advice would be to order the 82 assembly instruction manual and take a look at the factory installation. The AIM will list the various parts you will need to collect.

Don't be surprised to find the parts are going to be expensive.

During the mid-80s after the CEs had come out, there was an outfit producing an aftermarket kit using GM parts to convert big back window cars to the CE hatch. You might be able to scare up one of these old kits.

I found all of the parts at a corvette salvage yard. Can't wait to start installation.
