1982 starter

i had asked this one once before but never really found anyone who knew the real answer.... on the 1982 cross firs does anyone know if you have to loosen the motor mounts and lift the motor to get the starter out..... if you read the repair manuals some say you do, another says you need to remove the exhaust, some make no mention of either, my mechanic who did the pugs and wires says you absolutely have to, a couple people had said that it will come right out..... anyone actually tackled this project and know first hand

Make sure you dis-connect the battery first, and remove the inspection cover from the transmission/flywheel.
Remove the nuts that hold the bracket to the stud on the front of the starter.
Then remove the two 9/16" bolts that hold the starter onto the block. Drop the starter down and toward the rear to get the wires off the terminals. Then pull the starter out. There's plenty of room without removing anything else.

thanks but i shouldve posted qn update, i put it up on the lift, from the time it went up to the time the new one was in was little over hgalf an hour.... couldnt have been any easier!
