Question: 1984 - Antenna motor housing removal

Removing the rear wheel and mud shields, the motor is still going to be an arms length away and seems like it's going to be a pain. My questions is, how difficult is it to remove the rear plastic cover that frames the lights. Accessing the antenna motor housing would be a lot closer.
 
You tube has lots on this project, Removing the rear cover isn't the way to go. Thanks guys...
 
Removing the rear cover is NOT the way to go. You need to remove the antenna to remove some of the screws for the rear cover. The best way is to remove the license plate ,reach through remove the taillight lens and you can get good access to the antenna. you might need to remove the inboard lens first then the outside light
