On my '84, there is a strong fuel smell coming from the vapor canister. I have checked all the hoses, and they are good. The vacuum relay does not appear to be providing any vacuum to the canister.
I ran the vacuum line directly to the canister (by pass the relay) and the car dies right away. Shouldn't the car still run with vacuum to the canister? Isn't that the point?
Does this mean the canister is possibly plugged?
Will cleaning the carbon filter help in this case, or do I need to be searching for a new canister?
