I have a 85 c4 and tried to replace the antenna it is stuck in the up position. I took the rear tire off and removed the plastic wheel well to get to the antenna and there is just not enough room for my hands to get in there and take it out. Pus there is what looks like a plastic lock nut on the top of the antenna that needs to come off. Anyone one know of a better way to get to this for replacing a new antenna. Thanks for your help. Bill

I have found that dropping the left muffler makes more room for my ham fist. The plastic nut will release the antenna assembly and a 10mm nut holds it to a bracket, as I recall.I think the antenna feed wire is just inside the hatcdh glass, driver side under the carpet, so you may need to remove some plastic molding.

The antenna ribbon is relatively inexpensive to replace; those I have purchased include directions for drilling out the rivets, then replacing them with nuts/bolts. It takes some time but most home mechanics can do it.
