Just out of curiosity, whats the casting number for the 1985 cast iron heads and what size valves did they have and if possible, what was their flow rated at and etc. Also,is this head the same as the early 86 cast iron head? They also the same as the 84 heads as well?

No,im not looking to do anything with these type of heads,I got the aluminum ones already, but just wanted the info for reference.
Thanks!
:)

Thanks Ken,
I appreciate the link...I do need to get the Black Book!

If anyone can list the valve and flow specs here for me as well,Id appreciate it.
:)

Valves are 1.94 intake
The exhaust should be 1.5", but I could be wrong. They may have been 1.6 on the exhaust.

Valves, head outside diameter: 1.94" intake, 1.50" exhaust

Minimum combustion chamber total volume: 4.6 cu-in (combustion chamber with piston at top dead center and all components in place torqued to specifications)

Workin' on the flow numbers... ;)

Thanks again people!
Appreciate it...one of the reasons I wanted to know more about the 624 heads is because a book I have said they were used on Vettes up to 1979.I havent been able to find anythng online that mentions the 624 being used after the L82 and 1979.

2.02 valves were the intake size listed for them.I havent found any info about them being 1.94 intake,1.5 exhaust so I wanted to check into this more.

I didnt know if GM used the smaller valves due to the smog laws of the 80's.Did these heads come in two versions? Was one production line a 2.02 valve and the other a 1.94?Thats something else Ive been asking myself alot and trying to find out.I also wanted to know if port size changed due to the smog impact as well between different year runs.

Either way thanks again for the info!
:)
