I had just purchased a 1985 Corvette. The previous owner had removed the fuel pump and fuel injectors. He had the injectors rebuilt so he claims. I just wanna put the car back together just to see if she Atleast runs. My question is on the bottom of the injectors is a yellow round disc. Is the disc stay on the injector or does it get removed and discarded before installation. I didn't take it apart so I am not sure? Thanks for the help.

Thank you. The pic above is like the injector with the yellow disc at the bottom. Is that just a protector disc for the nozzle?

I believe it is there Sir... If you cannot see some VERY tiny holes in the end of it (the fuel discharge holes), then it is a protective cover...

That's all is is, is a garden hose sprayer. Pressure is necessary, to make it spray HARD, and atomize. Low pressure = dribble, like the hose, and no vaporizing.

AND MAKE SURE THEY'RE THE RIGHT ONES, OTHERWISE, NEW IS STILL WORTHLESS, EXCEPT ON EBAY.

I wish I had them on hand to take actual pics of it. There is one hole in the center of that yellow disc and you can see the nozzle. That's kinda why it's throwing me off. If it was a protective cover why the one hole in the center at the nozzle?

Some injectors have more than one opening - 4, 6, etc. I think vette-correct injectors do also...

I wouldn't install them just yet, until you can identify them for correct application or not (someone else here might know for sure).

Get Jon, at FIC Injectors. Injectors is his line, and he does the boards ALOT, or get his web site FIC.com (???)

and I have NO affiliation with Jon / FIC, nor have I done ANY business with him, except to suggest that he make videos.

that's it! Does that yellow disc get removed or does it stay on the injector?

Honestly I agree. I think they stay on too. Just wanna make sure. I didn't see any stamping on them. I do believe they did come out of this car. I don't think the guy was pulling my chain on that. He was gonna get it running again after sitting but lost interest so I bought it as a father son project. I mainly work on heavy diesel equipment for over 18 years now. So this is new to me. I usually work with injectors Atleast five times this size. Lol

Another satisfied customer of the CAC!

Thanks for posting your result.

Now you can get onto other things: like DRIVING your Vette!

While driving your Vette with the new injectors, please be sure to SAVE the WAVE! :w

Now that you have the engine running, I hate to tell you this but that yellow plastic cap is only used to protect the tip of the injector during shipping. It is NOT to be left on the injector when it is installed.

The engine runs because the cap has hole in it.

When the caps loosen and fall off, engine damage is possible. Also, when combustion and oil residue build up inside the cap, the injector will become fouled.

Remove the injectors, remove the protective caps then replace the injectors.

Nooo. its running but it is running funny at idle and sometimes it hesitates. I guess thats why? UGGGGHH
