I have a 1986 Coupe with about 150,000 miles that I've just put a new engine and transmission in. Now I'm having door problems. Does anyone know if it's possible to replace the locks or even better, the whole door handle assembly. Presently the drivers side does not cancel the alarm whereas the passenger side will cancel the alarm but sometimes it's very difficulty to get the key out and I know someday soon it won't come out anymore at all.

Yup, it's not that big of a deal, take your time and alot of digital pics to help you remember where things go back.

I'm not sure if there are any procedures in the manuals for this. I have had my door apart and it was pretty easy, a little tight working in there.

try squirting some dry graphite lube in there. it fixed the problem of my key not coming out. what happens is the tublers wont fall out of your key when it is not lubed. If you lube the ignition cylendar though be carefull and only use a little lube.

There's a switch connected to the key lock which makes contact when you turn the key which disengages the VATS.
