I had to repaint my rear facia due to an idiot backing into me, and I carefully pryed off the rear emblem, but it can't stick back onto the car.

The emblem is clean and in great shape, but what kind of adhesive could I use to put it back? I have some 3m spray adhesive (#77 I think). I don't know how that would hold up to the elements, however.

I'd hate to drop $50 on a new one, which is what they get at Ecklers or Mid America.

I guess I'll reply to myself....

I tried the 3M adhesive and it looks like it's going to work. We'll see what happens when it bakes in the sun for 8 hours.

Normally with this stuff you spray both pieces that are sticking together, let them "dry" and press them together. I sprayed the logo about 3 times, and for the 3rd I stuck it on the car while still very tacky.

a paint shop like Matto's will have the 3m body emblem tape you need - it is a 2-sided foam based tape - hope this helps

Larry, that 3M #77 won't work for this job. You'll loose some letters, and then end up buying that expensive new logo! Use the good quality double-sticky foam tape the body shops use. Even if you have to pay top dollar at your local body shop, that'll be better than loosing a letter! The body shop should be able to give you a few tips on preping the letters and the paint for a good bond.

Well, so far so good, after 1 month (and a couple of power washings).

Why would I pay top dollar for foam tape when I could buy the entire logo (WITH the tape) for $40?

You can't loose "some" letters, the whole logo is one piece.
