Today I had a problem starting my 1987 Vette, it would turn over but didn't fire, check everything possible until I shook the key switch and immediately it fired. Why??? Should I replace the ignition switch and would you help me with instructions on installation? :confused If I get a new switch can I change the tumblers to match my present keys.
Mine did that about 5 or six years ago. It stranded me and I had it put on a flat bed and towed home. You probably should get it fixed right away. Back then, I was less mechanically inclined, and had a shop do it. Back then it was mid 300's. I did not have to get a new ignition key. I'm sure a Factory Service Manual has a procedure.
