1989 Black Cloth Seats

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know where I can find a set of black cloth seat covers. My 89 had non power black cloth seats and are in need of new foam and covers. I really don't want to put in leather seat covers. I have not been able to find them. Hope someone can help me. Thanks.

Some of the earlier C4s had cloth seats but I didn't know there were any 89's with cloth seats? Are they original to the car?

From the Model center on this site the total production for 89 was 26,412 units and 23,364 of those had base leather - when you add in the sport seats for US(1777), Canada (1174), Europe (201) and Japan (110) the cars made with leather seats are more than the total production. I guess I'm missing something here?

If the seats are original to your car I would shop all the major vendors to see who can match the original cloth - that may be difficult or impossibe. Maybe someone else will post and help out.

I just noticed on the interior options for 89 there were cloth seats! (Learned something new today!)

19C BLACK/Cloth 871
60C SADDLE/Cloth 400

They were available and my car had them. They were black with a checkered pattern in the seat and lower back. Its probably close to impossible to have a interior shop duplicate this. I know Chevy stocked the replacement seat covers but don't anymore.

My 85 has Graphite leather seats - I hate them! I want cloth seat covers but haven't been able to find any. They don't have to be reproduction, just excellent quality. Many years ago I did automotive upholstery (still have most of the equipment) and may end up stitching my own, along with custom cloth door panels. If you don't have to have the originals duplicated, you can probably find a cloth that will work at an upholstery shop. They should have a book showing current OEM cloths.
