Have a 1993 C4 that will start and idle good for awhile then if you step down on the acclerator it will cough and die. After that it will have to sometimes sit before it will restart. Have replaced both the inline fuel filter and fuel pressure regulator with the same results. Would it start at all if it was the pump or strainer gone bad. Dont have a fuel pressure test gauge. Will the fuel pump relay or oil pressure switch cause it to run like this. Cant drive it any where at the moment..would really appreciate some help...

No running fuel pump = car not running at all. Car running = FP + relay, ops norm.

Suggest you get a pressure gauge, and observe the reading while idling and making it stumble. Else, you can throw parts at it and hope. A hand vacuum pump allows you to simulate the demand for power, which 'pulls' more vacuum to the FPR, adding fuel as required. High vac @ idle: lower FP and vice versa.

A leaky hose to FPR may be the issue.:w
