MY SHIFTING IS OKAY ON MY 6 SPEED , BUT ONCE IN AWHILE WHEN DRIVING AROUND WHEN I SHIFT USALLY FROM 2ND TO 3RD IT SHIFTS REALLY HARD (TO GET IT OUT OF 2ND) , IS THIS A SYNCO THING ? WOULD SYN. TRANSMISSION OIL HELP , IT DOES NOT SHIFT LIKE A NEW ONE OR IS THIS NORMAL FOR A VETTE WITH 69,000 K . ALSO ANY HELP SHIFTING IF I WENT TO A HURST OR B&M SHIFTER ,ARE THEY WORTH THE MONEY ? DENNY

wieser,

If you haven’t done so already, you may first want to try draining the ZFs transmission and filling it with new fluid. It may help with shifting effort and help lessen gear whine.

I’ve read here on the CAC that people have been pretty happy with Red Line and Royal Purple.

I have a stock shifter, someone will chime in on the aftermarket shifters.

I switched to the BMW Castrol synthetic fluid last year at 30,000 miles and I have been very pleased. The tranny, though it was always fairly quiet, seems even quieter and smoother since the change. Search the forums, there are some interesting links discussing tranny fluids for C4's.

I bought my 90 a little over a yr ago with 69k on it. A few months after I got it I changed the transmission oil, using Mobil 1 10w30. When I bought it it shifted into 5th rather hard. After about 5000 miles it seems to be getting better. Next spring I will change it again and try the Red Line or the Royal Purple.
