Hello,

I just got my 1998 Corvette 6sp 95k miles not to long ago. It ran great at first then I intalled a used SLP intake, I clean and oiled it. Took it to the car wash and out of know where... rough idle and white smoke from the exhaust pipes. When I bought the car i knew the Gas Gauge didnt work. I filled the tank and added a can of Seafoam. So far, still broken... any ideas?

Back to the real issues .... I pulled codes: U1064 H, U1096 H, C1277 C, C1255 H, P1571 H C, P1432 H C

This seem like alot of codes and I dont know where to start. This is my first C5. :ugh

I did Clean the MAF hoping it was just filter oil but it didnt fix it.

Dash light said, Service Traction control. Why would traction control cause a very rough idle and withe smoke?

Thanks for any advice.

White Smoke and Rough Idle are usually a indication of coolant or water intrusion into the combustion chamber,My guess you sucked water in through your Fancy Dancy Intake!

There is a reason GM has that worthless box around the air cleaner!:thumb

If you Hydro-Lock the engine, it 'WILL" do serious Engine Damage!:thumb

Sea Foam while well marketed and considered as some kind of magic elixir on some forums, is generally, a waste of time/money, but even if it did work, it's not going to "fix" the problems you have.

DTC C1255 is a fault with the internals of the EBTCM
DTC C1277 is a fault with the requested torque line between the EBTCM and PCM
DTC P1432 is a fault with the gas gauge sensor in the right fuel tank.
DTC P1571 is a problem with ASR related to the PCM and the EBTCM communicating desired torque data.

The next two are not problems if they occur occasionally but are problems if they occur all the time
DTC U1064 indicates loss of communcation with the BCM
DTC U1096 indicates loss of communication with the IPC

The net sum of all of the above seems to be what you already know, you have a problem with your gas gage and a problem with traction control. If you are going to attempt DIY repair you need 1) The Factory Service Manual, 2) a scan tester which supports the chassis controllers and the ECM and 3) electrical service tools such as a DMM.

White smoke is usually a sign the engine is burning antifreeze but it also can be misidentified as oil smoke.

Unfortunately, you likely have some possibly expensive problems on your hands.
Good luck
