Hi

My buddy's 98 steering locked up in his driveway and nobody wants to tow him because of potential damage lifting it even if he backs it into the street.

The dealer said just tow it in and your on your own getting it here.

What can he do???

Alan

Here's what your buddy can do without dealer intervention Alan.
Get a Column Lock bypass from Zip Products for $50.00.http://www.zip-products.com/Zip/productr.asp?pf%5Fid=E%2D825&gift=False&HSLB=False&mscssid=9A756FFDFED34F2BA3E9DA928D8A541C

And follow these instructions.
http://www.97vette.com/howto/columnlock/interiorremoval.html

Fixed for $50.00. Time for repair, 1-1/2 Hr.+ delivery time. Never again will be a problem.

He can try shaking the wheel to get it unlocked, but sometimes it doesn't work.
Stay away from the dealership, they will charge $650.00 for the repair and it will fail again.

Was this a problem on all C5 model years?
